Wilmer E. Martin, 81, a resident of Garden Spot Village, New Holland, formerly of Honey Brook, died Thursday. August 2, 2018 following a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Esther M. Sensenig Martin who died January 1, 2018. Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Walter S. and Clara (Zimmerman) Martin.
Wilmer was a retired farmer. He was a lifelong member of the Weaverland Mennonite Church and had been a Sunday School Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, Phillies baseball and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Surviving is a daughter, Lyndell J. wife of Donald Good of Ephrata; three sons, Nelson R. husband of Carol (Leaman) Martin of Honey Brook, Michael J. husband of Cheryl (Gingrich) Martin of New Holland, and Steven D., married to Anna Mary (Esh) Martin of New Holland; 12 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; four brothers, Walter C. husband of Velma Martin of New Holland, Charles husband of Gloria Martin of New Holland, Sanford Martin of Ephrata, and Linford husband of Elaine Martin of Middlebury, IN; and two sisters, Marlene wife of Leon Martin of Ephrata, and Miriam wife of Leonard Zimmerman of Narvon.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 6 at 11 am at Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community, 210 Weaverland Valley Rd, East Earl with Brian Martin, Leon Hurst, and C. Kenneth Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Sunday from 2 – 4 pm at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave, New Holland, and on Monday from 10 – 11 am at Weaverland. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Drilling for Life, 266 Vera Cruz Road, Reinholds, PA 17569.
