Obituary for Esther I. Simmons (Blank)
Esther I. Simmons, 96, of Narvon, formerly of New Holland, died Monday, July 10, 2017, after a brief illness, at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center.
Born in Spring Garden, PA, she was the daughter of the late Menno and Maude (Umble) Blank. Her husband, Russell P. Simmons, died July 5, 1979.
Esther was a homemaker and a member of Ranck’s United Methodist Church.
Surviving are five children, Russell Lee, married to Dianne (Tench) Simmons of New Holland, Kenneth R. Simmons of New Holland, Doris F., married to Travis Unterzuber of Davenport, IA, Janice L. Simmons of Columbia, and Jane M. Yoder, widow of Carl, of Osterburg; 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death is a son, Dale Blank; two brothers, Mervin and Walter Blank; and three sisters, Erma Ranck, Anna Houck, and Mabel Miller.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2017 at Ranck’s United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Esther’s memory to Zerbe’s Retirement Center, 2499 Zerbe Road, Narvon, PA 17555.
