Mary Z. Hoover, 88, of 580 Reidenbach Rd., New Holland, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at her home. Her husband, Benjamin F. Hoover, preceded her in in death in 2015.
Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Phares and Sarah (Zimmerman) Martin.
She was a homemaker and a member of the New Holland Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.
Surviving are eight children: Mahlon married to Martha G. (Martin) Hoover, Ephrata; Frank married to Laura B. (Martin) Hoover, New Holland; Etta Hoover, at home; Susie married to Clarence Reiff, East Earl; Sarah married to Walter Martin, Penn Yan, NY; Ruth married to Henry Z. Martin, New Holland; Mary married to Paul H. Martin, New Holland; Alice married to Reuben Weaver, East Earl; 38 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and nine siblings: Rufus Martin, Denver; Paul Martin, East Earl; Amos Martin, Milton; Aaron Martin, Denver; Harvey Martin, Elkton, KY; Luke Martin, Leitchfield, KY; Sarah married to Rufus Hoover, New Holland; Anna married to David Hoover, New Holland; Lizzie married to Rufus Nolt, Versailles, MO.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Nora Hoover, a son Milton Hoover, and grandson Thomas Martin; five brothers: Ivan, Chris, Clarence, Phares and John Martin and a sister, Lydia Hoover.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 at her late home at 9 a.m. with further services at 9:30 a.m. at New Holland Mennonite Church with Bishop Titus H. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at her late home on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Kindly omit flowers.
