Obituary for Arvella L. Rutter (Loht)
Arvella L. Rutter, 89, of Ephrata, formerly of New Holland, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 at Ephrata Manor. She was the loving wife of Richard E. Rutter, whom preceded her in death in 1985.
Born in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the later Noah N. and Esther (McCardle) Loht.
Arvella worked as a manager for the New Holland American Legion. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she served as an usher, altar attendant, and served on mission’s trips to the Lakota Sioux Native American reservations. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, the New Holland Food Bank, and the New Holland Senior Center. Arvella was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, and volunteered at the Coatesville VA Hospital. Arvella traveled extensively and enjoyed arranging bus trips to share her passion in experiencing new places.
Arvella is survived by 4 children: Bonnie K. Berg of Hot Springs, AR, Richard L. Rutter, husband of Bonnie, of Akron, PA, Donald “Rusty” L. Rutter, husband of Kathy, of Ephrata, PA, and Diane L. Walters, wife of Ronnie, of Hot Springs, AR; a sister, Donna Burkhart, wife of Richard, of Mohnton, PA; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a son, Norman L. Rutter.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, 221 E Main St, New Holland, PA 17557 with Rev. Dr. Charles H. Oberkehr officiating.
