Mrs. Edith A Houck, age 92, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Ephrata Manor where she resided since June 25, 2015. She was the wife of George L Houck of New Holland, PA. Born October 2, 1924 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Irene (Smith) Fryberger.

Edith worked for Weaver Quality Eggs, T. Burk & Co and Country Squire Motor Inn. She loved to go shopping, traveling, watching game shows, the Phillies and Nascar. She enjoyed planting flowers in the summer and cherished her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was a member of Ebenezer E C Church, Brownstown, PA.

Edith was preceded in death by her son David L. Houck, a sister Verna Simmons and two brothers Paul and Charles Fryberger. She is survived by a daughter, Janice E Hauck Akron, PA and daughter-in-law Donna J. Houck of Lexington Park, MD; six grandchildren, Jessica L Bitner (Todd) Ephrata PA, Christopher S Hauck (Susan) Meadowbrook, PA, Steven T Hauck Aberdeen, MD, Gabrielle Houck Australia, Alex Houck Lexington Park, MD and Justine Woodburn (Scott) Cincinnati, OH; six great-grandchildren, Logan, Avery and Cameron Bitner, Kasey and Jaxon Hauck, and Desmond Woodburn; two sisters, Joan Eckert Leola, PA and Doris Meyer Wilmington, DE; one brother William Fryberger (Sylvia) Denver, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 10 AM at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland PA 17557 with Pastor Bruce Willier officiating. Interment will follow at Evangelical United Methodist Cemetery, New Holland. Viewing will be held on Monday from 9-10 AM at the funeral home.
