It was the coolest to have a sister 17 years older. I have so many fond childhood memories of the times I spent with my sister and “the boys” in the apartments in Gap, the farm, and finally the house in New Holland. Bev was the best big sister ever. She suggested the messy projects, melting wax and making candles, painting and using her “child craft” to turn a rainy Saturday night into whole lot of fun. My nephews and I had a great time doing the things we shouldn’t growing up on the farm. We rarely got in trouble but when we did and a correction was necessary my sister would chase us down with a wooden spoon. Ron would always find some interesting vehicle for my sister to drive one of the best being the gray primer Fiat. Bev would drive me and my nephews daily to Wayside pool and all over creation in the little puddle jumper. I never realized how much I would cherish our annual family trips to Disney, days at the beach or amusement park outings until now that I’m older. I’ll miss her homeopathic knowledge and recipes, crafts, and kindness. The crafts she’s made are a daily reminder of her creative talent, innovative style and the ability to see a purpose in dull, discarded items cast aside by others.
