Obituary for Leah K. Martin

Leah Kilmer Martin, 97, formerly of Spring Grove, passed on to her Savior on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Fairmount Homes. Born October 4, 1919 to Henry & Mathilda (Kilmer) Martin in Alanson, MI. She moved with her family to Pennytown, Lancaster County, PA, in April, 1939. In 1963 she and her sister moved to Goodville and then to Spring Grove in 2013. She was a member of the Old-Order Mennonite Church, Groffdale Conference.

Leah was a house cleaner and had taken care of her parents and home. She enjoyed cooking, baking, visitors, singing, and reading. She volunteered at dinners held by the Goodville Fire Company.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara K. Martin, East Earl, PA, her sister-in-law, Mrs. Alma (Harvey) Martin, Lancaster, PA, and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Karen Evans, MI. She is also survived by her dear friend, Kathy Trowbridge, Akron, PA.

Her family thanks her church friends, neighbors, and staff at WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital, Fairmount Homes, and Hospice & Community Care, and Dr. Joseph Strangarity and Dr. Patrick Arena for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 3, at 9:30 pm at Spring Grove Mennonite Church with Bishop Elam Zimmerman officiating. Burial will be held in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be at the late home, 380 Spring Grove Rd., East Earl on Monday from 6 – 8 pm. Kindly omit flowers. Arrangements by Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill.
