Obituary for Mary E. Piersol (Hammond)
Mary E. Piersol, 80, of New Holland, died after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at the home of her granddaughter, Brooke & Matt Showalter, where she had resided for the past year.
Born in Salisbury Twp., she was the daughter of the late Allen and Margaret (Spencer) Hammond. Her husband, Dr. Warren Piersol, died March 5, 2003.
Mary graduated from Salisbury High School in 1954 and later from beauty school. She worked most of her life as a beautician in her home until her retirement in 1979.
She had been attending Lighthouse Assembly of God and she enjoyed playing Bridge, going to the beach, dancing, and knitting. She had won several blue ribbons for her knitting at the New Holland Farm Show.
Surviving are two children, Alana, married to Jeffrey Reimold of New Holland, and Allen Hillard of New Holland; three step children, Thomas Piersol of Honey Brook, Theodore Piersol of New Holland, and Donna Horvath of New Holland; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and two sisters and a brother, Dorothy Graham, Jerre Hammond, and Donna Null.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29 at Noon at Lighthouse Assembly of God, 105 Earland Dr., New Holland, with the Reverend Stephen Ritchey officiating.
