Eva Ruth Martin, 93, of New Holland, formerly of Terre Hill, died Monday, September 5, 2016 at Garden Spot Village, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Brunnerville, she was the daughter of the late Clayton E. and Anna Dora (Martin) Myer. Her husband, A. Eugene Martin, Sr., died Oct. 10, 2009. Eva died on the 74th anniversary of her wedding. They would have been married 74 years.
Eva was a homemaker and a founding member of Grace Family Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music, sewing, crocheting, needlework and getting together with family.
Surviving are 10 children, Lois Rickenbach of Ephrata, Mildred, married to John B. Sheffer, II of Ocala, FL, Priscilla, married to Thomas Captain of Myerstown, Eugene, Jr., married to Connie (Mellinger) Martin of New Holland, J. Michael, married to Bobbie (Steif) Martin of New Holland, Eva Jane, married to John Larson of Leesburg, VA, E. Nelson, married to Lucinda (Walter) Martin of Terre Hill, David L., married to Charlene (Martin) Martin of Fivepointville, Rebecca, married to Arthur Reid of New Holland, and Stuart L., married to Joanne (Eberly) Martin of Terre Hill; 25 grandchildren; and 35 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are six brothers and sisters, Stanley L. Myer, Lloyd M. Myer, Mary Wenger, Martha Williams, Clair P. Myer, and Naomi Smith.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 9 at 10 am at Grace Family Church, 415 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, with the Reverend Timothy Hodge officiating. Interment will be in the Blue Ball Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557 from 6-8 pm and on Friday at the Church from 9-10 am. If desired contributions may be made to Garden Spot Village Benevolent Fund, address above.
