Obituary for Clarence H. Horst

Clarence H. Horst, 95, of Reading, died Tuesday, January 15, 2019 in Reading.
Born in Adamstown, he was a son of the late Elmer K. and Katie (Buckwalter) Horst. His wife, Ruby A. (King) Horst, died Nov. 21, 2009.
Clarence worked most of his career at the Bollman Hat Company but also loved farming.
He was a member at Fairview Mennonite Church in Reading for over 60 years and enjoyed listening to music and singing.
Surviving are five children, James (Carol) Horst of Paradise, Charles (Sheryl) Horst of Middlebury, IN, Ruby (Greg) Lerch of Reading, J. Mark (Joyce) Horst of Harrisonville, and Alice (Clyde) Martin of Ephrata; 29 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and four siblings, Samuel Horst of Harrisonburg, VA, Luke Horst of Lititz, Orpah Kurtz of West Jefferson, NC, and John Horst, married to June of Elizabethtown.
Preceding him in death are four brothers and a sister.
The family would like to thanks the staff of Rittenhouse Village in Muhlenberg and Caring Hospice for their gentle care of Clarence over these past several months.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 9 at 11 am at Gehman Mennonite Church, 127 Witmer Rd, Reinholds. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 to 11 am at the church. A private interment will be in the Gehman Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Heralds of Hope, PO Box 3, Breezewood, PA 15533.
