Obituary for Charles A. Bills

Charles A. Bills, 58, of Gap, died unexpectedly at his home on January 4, 2019.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of the late Ray A. and Carolyn N. (Gossert) Bills.
Charles worked for the former C.M. Reeds & Sons in White Horse, Dart Container in Leola, Elixir Industries in Leola, and Brubacher Excavating in East Earl as an equipment operator.
He served as past president of the Beartown Sportsman’s Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing and fish stocking, rock music such as AC/DC, ZZ Top, and Lead Zeppelin, and playing drums and mandolin. He also enjoyed racing dirt bike at Piston Poppers track in Parkesburg, telling stories and entertaining everyone he was with, he loved his dogs and all animals, and watching tug-of-war at New Holland Farm Show every year.
Surviving are five children, Dawn, married to Will Cruz of Lancaster, C.J. Bills of Stoneboro, Robert Bills of Gap, Shane Fryberger of Coatesville, and Shawn Fryberger of Gap; six grandchildren; one great grandson; a brother, Darrel, married to Wanda (Beam) Bills of Gap; one niece; one nephew; and one great niece.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11 at 2 pm at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland. Interment will be in the Mt. Zion United Methodist Cemetery. Viewing will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 pm and on Friday from 1-2 pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Humane League of Lancaster County, www.humanepa.org.
