Obituary for John L. Glick

John L. Glick, 82, of Smoketown, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Hospice and Community Care in Mount Joy, surrounded by his loving family following a brief illness.
He was married 63 years to Mary K. Byers Glick. Born in Smoketown, he was the son of the late Jacob A., Sr. and Katie Smoker Glick.
Early in life John had worked for his father at Glick Plant Farms in Smoketown, and then for most of his life was a self-employed truck driver.
He was a member of the Forest Hills Mennonite Church. He was a longtime member of the former Eastern Lancaster County Sertoma Club. His interests included bowling and golfing. An avid hunter, he was a member of the Green Laurel Hunting Camp in Potter County.
Surviving besides his wife is a daughter, Cindy A. wife of Terry A. Blankenship of Clearwater, FL; three grandsons, Cory A. husband of Tara Wissler, and Jordan and Jeremy Glick; two great grandchildren, Madison and Mason Wissler; three brothers, Melvin Glick of Bird-In-Hand, David husband of Sue Glick of New Holland, and Paul husband of Pinky Glick of Ft. Collins, CO; and two sister-in-laws, Mabel Glick of New Holland, and Maggie Glick of Elkhart, IN. He was preceded in death by two sons, J. Scott Glick and Kirk E. Glick, and by siblings, Norman Glick, Edna Beiler and Jacob Glick, Jr.
A Memorial Service celebrating John’s life will be held on Thursday, December 13, at 3:00 P.M. at the Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, PA with Pastor Jon Carlson officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in the Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery.
