Obituary for Jane L. Eby (Buckwalter)

Jane L. Eby, 88, of New Holland, formerly of Martindale, died Thursday, December 6, 2018 at her home after a brief illness.
Born in Earl Twp., she was the daughter of the late Martin Buckwalter and Bessie (Good) Buckwalter Kurtz. Her husband, Richard S. Eby, died March 27, 2001.
Jane, along with her husband, owned and operated Eby’s Store in Martindale from May 1964 until August 2000. Jane continued to help in the kitchen until she moved to Garden Spot Village.
She was a member of Bethany Grace Fellowship, Martindale Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Lancaster East Camp of Gideons International.
She loved spending time with her family, and especially enjoyed her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends, all types of table games, and reading.
Surviving are five children, Deborah, married to Dennis Ober of Lititz, Larry, married to LaVerne (Zimmerman) Eby of East Earl, Ronald, married to Lois (Beachy) Eby of East Earl, Diane, married to Edwin Delgado of East Earl, and R. Bruce, married to Tess (Hershey) Eby of Narvon; a son-in-law, Frank Portaro of New Holland; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; two sisters, Brenda Mueller of Terre Hill and Linda, married to Bob Hartman of Lebanon; and a brother, Ronald E. Buckwalter of New Holland.
Preceding her in death is a daughter, Nancy Portaro; a grandson, Steven Delgado; two sisters, Arlene Herman and Joanne Ortiz; and two brothers, Martin Buckwalter, Jr. and Harold Buckwalter.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 10 at 2 pm at Bethany Grace Fellowship, 400 Reading Road, East Earl, PA 17519. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held at the church on Sunday from 6-8 pm and on Monday from 1-2 pm.
