Obituary for William H. White

William H. White, 88, of Leola, passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital.
He was married 62 years to Mildred E. McGinnis White. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Harold T. and Blanche Shoemaker White.
William retired in 1984 from Bethlehem Steel after 27 years of employment. In retirement he had worked for a number of years at S. S. Fisher Steel, Powell Steel and New Holland Supply Company.
He was a longtime member of the Leola United Methodist Church. William enjoyed the history of the United Methodist Church and served on the Archives and History Committee of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Boehm’s Chapel Society.
William had served in the U.S. Army 8th Ordinance Co. during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Honey Brook American Legion and the Rotary Club of New Holland.
Surviving besides his wife is a sister, Doris Heintz of Medford, NJ. He was preceded in death by sisters, Lillian Von Minden and Genevieve Croll.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 27, at 11:00 A.M at the Leola United Methodist Church, 7 W. Main St., Leola, PA with the Rev. Thomas W. Fries. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment in the Honey Brook United Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. White’s memory may be made to the Leola United Methodist Church, 7 West Main St., Leola, PA 17540.
