Allen S. Weaver, 84, formerly of 745 Weaver Rd., Morgantown, died Monday, October 29, 2018 at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam E. (Mast) Weaver in 2006.
Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Daniel B. and Sadie R. (Kanagy) Weaver.
Allen had a passion and love for fruit growing, operating Weaver’s Orchard, Inc. until retiring in 2003. In his retirement, he volunteered at the ReUzit Shoppe in Morgantown.
He was a member of Conestoga Mennonite Church where he had served as a Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher and youth leader. Additionally he was a member of the Berks County Fruit Growers Association, State Horticulture Association of PA and PA Farm Bureau.
From 1954-1956, he served his 1-W service in Columbus, OH. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, snowmobiling, hiking, flowers, and taking family movies.
Surviving are three children: Patricia married to Kenneth Smith, Bridgewater, VA, Edgar married to Anne (Martin) Weaver, Morgantown, Linda married to Kenneth Renno, Morgantown, nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and a brother Harold Weaver, Hamburg.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Parke Weaver in 2008 and a sister Gladys Weaver.
His funeral will be held on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown with Pastor Bob Petersheim officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Saturday from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Twin Valley Food Pantry, Morgantown, Pa. or online, http://twinvalleyfoodpantry.org
