John J. Weaver, 92, of New Holland, died Monday, October 15, 2018 at Garden Spot Village. His wife of 69 years, Rhoda L. (Hess) Weaver, survives.

Born in New Holland, he was the son of the late Levi and Martha (Brackbill) Weaver.

John worked at the former Victor F. Weaver, Inc., the former Good’s Furniture and then he and Rhoda owned and operated The Back Porch Gift Shop in New Holland. After moving to Garden Spot Village, he was a volunteer there for 20 years.

He was an active, life-long member of New Holland Mennonite Church.

Surviving is addition to his wife are four children: Patti married to Glen Hostetler, Scott Weaver married to Lynn Sommer, Pamela Cosco married to Dale Kaufman, and Wendi married to Keith Arnold; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a great-great granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two sister, Elsie Hess and Blanche Sensenig.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 3 p.m. at Garden Spot Village Chapel, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland with Pastor Dawn Ranck-Hower officiating. The family will greet guests informally following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the New Holland Early Learning Center, 18 Western Ave, New Holland, PA 17557. The Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland is in charge of arrangements.
