Obituary for Abram Brubaker Jr.

Abram Brubaker, Jr., 87, of New Holland, died Friday, August 10, 2018 at his home.
Born in Blue Ball, he was a son of the late Abram and Mary (Crills) Brubaker. He was the loving husband of Minerva (Weaver) Brubaker for over 31 years.
Abram attended Grace Family Church, New Holland. He found his calling to serve as a Marine in the Korean War until he was honorably discharged. He worked at Permutit Company as a machinist for over 30 years.
Abe is well known for his love of Penn State Football. He was a season ticket holder and attended many major bowl games. Some of his passions in life were hunting and fishing. Abe loved to spend time at his cabin in Lycoming County, where he was an honorary member of the Bonnell Run Hunting Club. Abe passed on his knowledge of hunting and fishing to two generations of his family creating many memories at his cabin.
Abe loved his family and desired to spend quality time with them. His greatest joy was for all the family to spend time with him at his cabin. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He played a large role in his children’s lives by coaching little league baseball and being active in many sports. He played baseball and tennis in leagues for many years. Abe was always active, walking daily. He was very active in his grandchildren’s lives. He loved to attend their sporting events, dance recitals and high school and college graduations. Abe was known for his punctuality and rituals. He loved to frequent Bird-in-Hand Restaurant Saturday mornings and the Squireside on Sunday mornings before church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Deborah L. Brubaker of New Holland, and Ricky L., married to Debra E. (Byers) Brubaker of Lancaster; a step son, L. Michael, married to Malinda R. (Stout) Weaver of Willow Street; three grandchildren, Chadwick T., married to Erin (Wagner) Brubaker of Lancaster, Blake E. and Emily N. Brubaker both of Lancaster; three step grandchildren, Jesse L., married to Nina (Swann) Weaver of Quarryville, Kacey L. Weaver of Ephrata, and Kelly R., married to Ross Deihm of Ephrata; two great grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; a brother Clyde, married to Ann Brubaker of New Holland; five sisters, Mildred Dyer of Lancaster, Margaret I. Queen of Scottsdale, AZ, Ruth, married to Bill Prime of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Dorothy M. Imler of LaVerne, CA, and Grace, married to Carl Nolt of Narvon; a sister-in-law, Annetta Brubaker; and a brother-in-law, Tony S. Diamantoni.
Preceded him in death is his first wife Lorraine F. (Essex) Brubaker; six brothers, Wayne C., twins Willis and John, Willard, Raymond, and Charles; and three sisters, Mary K. Good, Shirley Diamantoni, and Helen Weiler.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 15 at 10 am at Grace Family Church, 415 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland. Interment will be in the Zeltenreich Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland and on Wednesday from 9-10 am at the Church.
