Obituary for Marvin M. Hurst

Marvin M. Hurst, 81, of Denver, died Saturday, July 21, 2018 at his home after a brief illness while under the care of Hospice & Community Care.
Born in Caernarvon Twp., Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Noah and Eva (Martin) Hurst. He was married 60 years on Feb. 8 to Ella (Weaver) Hurst.
Marvin began his career as a farmer but later worked the last 30 years for Earl R. Martin Trucking in East Earl until his retirement in 2003.
Surviving in addition to his wife are 9 children, Eugene Hurst of East Earl, Virginia, married to Marlin Bauman of Elmira, Ontario, Canada, Galen, married to Lena (Shirk) Hurst of Charlotte Court House, VA, Pauline, married to Earl Martin of Stevens, Karen, married to Wilmer Martin of New Holland, Melvin, married to Linda (Hoover) Hurst of Denver, Dennis, married to Sue (Hurst) Hurst of Denver, Rhonda, married to Stephen Hurst of Lititz, and Dawn, married to Gabriel Beachy of Cedar Creek, TX; 45 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; 5 sisters, Emma, married to John Zimmerman of Myerstown, Irene, married to Richard Good of Denver, Mabel Long of East Earl, Elsie, married to Charles Childers of Lorain, OH, and Luella Vanpelt of Columbiana, OH; and a brother, Chester, married to Kathy (Snader) Hurst of Terre Hill.
Preceding him in death is a granddaughter, Sarah Hurst; 5 brothers, Melvin, Edwin, Walter, Earl, and Raymond Hurst; and a sister, Mary Nolt.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26 at 9 am at the Martindale Mennonite Fellowship Center with further services at 9:30 at Martindale Mennonite Church with the Bishop Amos G. Martin officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, July 25 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Fairmount Homes Farm Crest Chapel, 1100 Farm Crest Dr., Ephrata.
