Obituary for Judith Ann "Judy" Stabler (Brooks)

Judith Ann Brooks Stabler, of Elverson, bravely fought cancer until May 12, 2018. She died at The Meadows at Tel Hai in Honey Brook, at age 73.
Born in Upper Darby, Delaware County, she was the daughter of Dr. Rex H. Brooks and Mary Willard Brooks, of West Chester. Judy lived on Rock Church Lane in Elverson with Joseph W. Stabler, her beloved husband of 47 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother, Rex H. Brooks, Jr. She is survived by her husband, and by her son, Joshua Brooke Stabler (Sarah), of Marshall, IL.
After graduating from West Chester High School in 1962, Judy studied anthropology at the University of South Florida. Those close to her knew that she greatly enjoyed participating in archaeological digs in St. Augustine, FL, and Williamsburg, VA. After college, she was first employed at the Chester County Hospital, where she found a second great passion: working in the children’s ward.
Judy was known for her creativity and kindness, and was a loving caretaker of countless family members. She was a lifetime learner and an avid reader; a pastime she shared with her son. Judy had an eye for the unique, and enjoyed attending antiques auctions. She also enjoyed boating on the Chesapeake Bay, and spending time in Beach Haven, NJ and Bradford County, PA.
Judy was also a lifetime member of the Haycreek Valley Historical Association. She volunteered at many of their festivals, where she enjoyed demonstrating early American crafts.
Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery, Elverson, at 3:00 PM Thursday, May 17, 2018. Friends and family will be received at a memorial on that day, from 6:00PM to 7:00PM at The Chapel at Tel Hai. A service will follow at 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Haycreek Valley Historical Association, https://haycreek.org/donate.
