Obituary for Allen R. Beiler

Allen R. Beiler
Allen Roy Beiler, 85, New Holland, PA, electronic engineer and genealogy DNA researcher went home to be with his Lord on Friday, April 6, 2018.

He was born May 19, 1932 near Morgantown, PA. He was the son of the late Stephen and Gertrude (Stoltzfus) Beiler. He is survived by his son, Mark T. Beiler of New Holland. He is predeceased by his wife, Florence Ann Beiler.

Allen graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School in 1950. He worked several years as parts and service manager for El-Mor Chevrolet in Morgantown. He served two years in 1W service at Northport Veterans Hospital on Long Island, NY. Following this, He studied at DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago, graduating in 1959 with a degree in Electronic Technology. Following his graduation, he worked nearly 30 years at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Reading, PA for the R&D branch of AT&T – which specialized in microelectronics. He finished his career as a Member of Technical Staff.

In his post-career years, he was a sub-contract inspector for electronic parts being used in the Patriot Missile Defense System. Later, he was a Tour Guide at the Amish Village in Strasburg, PA. He later worked in the Reservation Department of Sight & Sound Theatres, before retiring in 2005.

Allen was a lifelong Penn State and Philadelphia sports fan. He enjoyed watching games with his son and they attended many games together over the years. After watching this year’s Super Bowl, he commented to his son, “Mark, I’m so thankful that I was alive to watch our Eagles win the Super Bowl with you.”

He had a passion for researching his Beiler-Beyeler-Boiler-Byler family ancestry, as well as his wife’s Howe Family. He wrote several books and magazine articles. His work was featured several times in Lancaster Newspapers.

Using traditional paper trails, in combination with genealogical DNA, he traced his ancestors to Switzerland in the 16th century. In his last years, he devoted his efforts in DNA research to his deep ancestry beyond Switzerland.

He taught Sunday school classes for many years, and most recently was a member of Christian Fellowship Church, New Holland, PA.

In addition to his son, he is survived by two brothers, Merle mar. Arlene (Zimmerman) Beiler, Glendale, Arizona; Lavern (Skip) mar. Susan (Hemmig) Beiler, New Holland, PA. Also, one sister, Pearl Good of Orlando, Florida.

Preceding him in death is a sister Marian Jacobs; and a brother, Glen Beiler, Sr., husband of Anna Ruth (Meyers) Beiler.
