Elizabeth I. “Betty” Reeser, 83, of 567 Springville Rd., New Holland, formerly of Leola, died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. Her husband, Kenneth L. Reeser, preceded her in death in 2013.

Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Elsie (Burley) Simpson. At age 7, Betty came to live at the Millersville Children’s Home followed by multiple foster homes.

Betty worked at Tyson Foods, New Holland for many years.

She was a member of Groffdale Mennonite Church and formerly had been involved with the Bareville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed flower gardening and was known for her willingness to help others.

She is survived by her son, Fred E. Reeser, New Holland and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Brenda J. Reeser, and five siblings: Dolly Eller, Naomi Wroblewski, Shirley Auker, James Simpson, and Eleanor Woods.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Groffdale Mennonite Church, 168 N. Groffdale Rd., Leola. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 – 11 a.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be sent to Welsh Mountain Home, 567 Springville Rd., New Holland, PA 17557.
