Obituary for Raymond L. "Haldy" Haldeman

Raymond L. “Haldy” Haldeman, 73, of Narvon, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital surrounded by his family. His wife of 51 years, Janice M. (Campbell) Haldeman, survives.

Born in Ephrata, he was the son of the late Raymond L. and Vera (Good) Haldeman.

Haldy retired from CNH in 1998 where he had been a welder.

He was a member of Zeltenreich Reformed Church.

An avid snowmobiler, he had also been a New Holland Ambulance Attendant for many years. He was known for his routine of eating breakfast every weekday morning at Shady Maple since it opened.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Glenn married to Tammy (Reitzel) Haldeman, Stevens, Julie married to Thomas Goehrig, Jr., Akron; six grandchildren: Seth Griffith, Patrick Griffith, Evan Haldeman, Hailey Haldeman, Sara Haldeman, Ian Goehrig and four siblings: Milton S. Haldeman, Ephrata, Mary Jane Nissley, Lancaster, Harvey Haldeman and Robert Haldeman, both of MO.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lee Haldeman and a brother Harry Haldeman.

His funeral will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Pastor Robert Godfrey officiating. Interment will be in Zeltenreich Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 – 11 a.m. Online condolences may be posted at www.groffeckenroth.com.
