Obituary for Carl G. High

Carl Gene High, 73, of Willow Street, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Lancaster General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Alice M. (Herr) High for 52 years.

Born in Lancaster County, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and Nora (Becher) High.

Carl was a truck driver for Pennfield Corp. for 44 years. Following his retirement, he drove truck part time for BB’s Discount Grocery, Quarryville.

A member of Stumptown Mennonite Church, he loved music, to sing bass, and spend time with his family. Carl had the gift of showing love to all he came in contact with, touching many lives. His smile and kind words will be remembered by many.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children: Debra M. High, Willow Street, Timothy G. married to Anita F. (Martin) High, Willow Street, and Philip D. married to Lori A. (Reynolds) High, Lancaster; five grandchildren: Justin, Austin, Rebecca, Victoria, and Philip (JR); and five siblings: Warren G. married to Doris High, Lititz, J. Curvin married to Peggy High, Lancaster, Pauline married to Don Winters, Lancaster, Rhoda married to Art Yost, Lampeter, and Lorrie married to Steve Stoltzfus, East Petersburg.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at Stumptown Mennonite Church, 2813 Stumptown Rd., Bird In Hand. Burial will be private for the family in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Friday from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. If desired, memorials may be sent to Mennonite Central Committee, P. O. Box 500, Akron, PA 17501.
