Reverend Kenneth M. Weaver, born July 16, 1922, went home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2017, in his 96th year. Born in Beartown, PA, Kenneth was the son of the late Benjamin F. Weaver and Elsie Mae Sensenich Weaver. He spent his final years serving God and loving people as a resident of Garden Spot Village in New Holland, PA, and is survived by his 4 children: Nancy, married to Jay Martin of White Horse, PA, James, married to Tami Vaught, of Keller, TX, Caroline, married to Whitney Parker of Bedminster, NJ, and Angela, married to Michael Schatz of Mount Joy, PA. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 5 siblings. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Doris H. Weaver.
Reverend Weaver received his Bachelor’s degree from Elizabethtown College, and also graduated from the Lancaster Theological Seminary. Kenneth dedicated his life and God-given talents to the Lord, and used his life to serve Him in many ways, including over 50 years as a pastor in the Evangelical Congregational Church, and serving in related ministry roles including Chaplin for the Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers, a member of the Lancaster County National Day of Prayer Task Force, and a Board Representative for Mom’s House. He also ministered as the Director and Founding Member of the Twin Pines EC Camp, as well as being an evangelist for over 13 years. Kenneth also served as an Aflac Insurance representative for 20 years.
Known as Dad, Granddaddy and Pop Pop, Kenneth treasured spending time with people, especially his family. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, being a 75 year member of the Buck I Hunting Club in Galeton, PA. He enjoyed reading and playing games, especially Pinochle, Aggravation and Bingo. He loved John Wayne, his Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox, watching Penn State football, putting together puzzles, cooking, and wearing his cowboy boots.
A celebration of Life Service will take place at Garden Spot Village on Sunday, December 17, 2017 with visitation beginning at 1:30 PM, followed by the ceremony at 2:30 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the immediate family.
