Obituary for Albert V. Pacchioli

Albert V. Pacchioli, 95, of New Holland, Pennsylvania, died on November 29, 2017, at Garden Spot Village in New Holland.

He was born on October 31, 1922 in Easton, PA, son of the late Leonard and Angela DiLorenzo Pacchioli. On June 21, 1952, he married the former Mavis Walter of Morrisville, VA, who survives at home.

He was a 1940 graduate of Easton High School, and a 1950 graduate of the College of William and Mary with a B.S. in mathematics. After graduation, he was employed as a research engineer at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, working in the computer field in its pioneering days. In 1961, he joined the General Electric Corporation in Bethesda, Maryland, later transferring to King of Prussia, PA, where he worked on the Apollo moon landing project. In 1970, he joined the staff of Gilbert/Commonwealth International in Reading, PA, as a consultant to utility clients in the U.S. and in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Central America. He retired in 1984.

During World War II, he served from 1943-46 in the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater. He was a member of the vestry at Bangor Episcopal Church in Churchtown, PA, and a past member of the Lancaster Italian Cultural Society.

Above all, Al was a proud family man, devoted and beloved as son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a daughter, Valerie Lauer, of MacAlevy’s Fort, PA; two sons, Marc (Nancy) of Grier City, PA and David (Lori) of State College, PA; and seven grandchildren: Stephanie Jacobs and Hannah, Emily, Luke, Josiah, Samuel, and Daniel Pacchioli. A third son, Daniel Albert, died in 1978, and a sister, Ida, of Nazareth, PA, died in 2003.

Funeral services will be held at Bangor Episcopal Church in Churchtown at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, with the Rev. Canon Mark A. Scheneman presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
