Obituary for Mary Ann Groff (Hurst)

Mary Ann Groff, 83, of Richland, formerly of Stevens, died Friday, May 26, 2017 at Richland Christian Home.
Born in East Earl, she was the daughter of the late Abram and Mary (Weaver) Hurst. She was married 63 years on May 1 to Ernest B. Groff.
Mary Ann was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren along with tending her flowers and watching birds. She worked at Eberly Poultry and Martin’s Country Market part time. She also enjoyed helping her husband cut quilt patches from scrap for relief. She also had a ministry of sending cards to family and friends.
Surviving are six children, Leonard, married to Dolores (Nauman) Groff of Leola, Linda, married to Philip Hollinger of East Earl, Mary Jane, married to Frank Zimmerman of Leola, Leah Fay, married to Leon Weaver of Reinholds, Barbara Ann, married to Clair Long of New Holland, and Ernest Ray, married to Glenda (Snyder) Groff of Ephrata; 28 grandchildren; and 46 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are three brothers, Moses, Raymond, and Samuel Hurst; and two sisters, Esther Nelson, and Margaret Sensenig.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 31 at 10 am at Martindale Mennonite Church, 171 Hurst Road, Ephrata, with the Bishop Daryl Weaver, Dave Sensenig, Eugene Weaver, and Barry Wenger officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Fairmount Home, Wheatridge chapel, 333 Wheatridge Dr., Ephrata, and on Wednesday from 9-10 am at Martindale Mennonite Church.
