Aaron S. Snyder, 92, formerly of East Earl, passed away peacefully to his eternal home on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center, Narvon. His wife, Lydia W. (Martin) Snyder preceded him in death in 2011.They were married 59 years at the time of her death.
Born in Voganville, he was the son of the late J. Eby and Mary (Shirk) Snyder. Aaron was a member of Christian Fellowship Church.He was a man of quiet faith, leaning on the Lord to face life's many challenges. Aaron's favorite verse was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Aaron owned a furniture business. He was a self taught artist and well-known for his distinctive decorative Pennsylvania Dutch folk art painting on chairs, children's furniture, and other unique and treasured items. A car enthusiast, Aaron and his friends spent many hours in his garage restoring cars. He was also an accomplished drag car racer in the 50s and 60s. Aaron took pleasure in spending time with his loved ones at the family cabin. His great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving are two daughters: Shirley married to Mark Siedhof, Narvon and Sharon married to Blair Hicks, Exton; two grandchildren: Clinton Siedhof and Kelly Siedhof; five siblings: Lena Martin, Katie Weaver, Paul Snyder, Esther Zimmerman, and Mabel Horning; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters: Rosella “Rosie” Snyder and Linda Snyder and four siblings: Anna Zimmerman, Edna Shirk, Norman Snyder, and Mary Newswanger.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center and AseraCare Hospice for their kind and compassionate care, especially his long-term caregiver, Minnie.
Honoring Aaron’s wishes, funeral services will be private with interment in Christian Fellowship Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers.
