Obituary for Esther Martin Lee (Martin)

Esther Martin Lee, age 92 of New Holland died Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Garden Spot Village. After a number of years’ journey with Alzheimer’s disease and other illness, she is now released from the limitations of this life and is walking on the streets of gold with a clear mind, in the presence of God. Esther was born October 26, 1924 in New Holland, to the late David H. and Mary W. Martin.
She was a member of New Holland United Methodist Church and upon her death, an associate member of the Community Church at Garden Spot Village. Additionally, she worked as a seamstress at New Holland Lingerie for nearly 40 years. Prior to moving and during her first 10 years at Garden Spot Village she volunteered in the Village Store and distributed the mail to residents there. Esther enjoyed people, always had a ready smile and time for a conversation. Her tenacity, sense of humor and trust in God helped her weather many challenges in her life.
Esther is survived by her loving daughter Mary Ellen and son in law Gregory W. Lourey of Trumansburg, NY. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters in law Paul & Betty Martin of Lititz, Titus & Laura Lee Martin of Clymer, NY, Luke & Alma Martin of New Holland, Judy Martin of New Holland, Roy Martin of Indianapolis, IN and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother John Martin, sister in law Helen Martin and former husband Calvin Lee.
Her family expresses deep gratitude to the Garden Spot Village professional caregivers at Wintergarden Skilled Care, Mountain View Personal Care and Care at Home and especially to Luke and Alma Martin and John and Chris Horst for their support of Esther and Mary Ellen over her last years. May God richly bless you! In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Esther's memory may be made to Garden Spot Village, Benevolent Fund, 433 S. Kinzer Ave., New Holland, PA 17557.
