Obituary for Karl H. Knauer
Karl H. Knauer, 71, of Geigertown, passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at his residence. He was the loving husband of Linda M. (McGowan) Knauer, with whom he shared over 50 years of marriage.
Born in Pottstown, Karl was a son of the late Marvin K. and Dorothy (Houck) Knauer, Sr.
Karl was a graduate of Twin Valley High School, Class of ’63 and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He owned and operated Richards and Knauer Memorials. Karl was a member of St. Paul’s U.M. Church, Geigertown, served as a past President of the Trustee Board and Cemetery Committee, was a past master and past secretary of Howell Lodge #405 F. & A. M., Reading Consistory, a past High Priest of the Coatesville Royal Arch Chapter #267, a member of the American Legion Post #422, Honey Brook, a member of Boy Scout Troop 37, Elverson where he achieved his Eagle Scout and Order of the Arrow, a charter member of the Hay Creek Historical Society, and an advisor to the Rainbow Girls, New Holland.
Karl is survived by his wife; his four daughters: Brenda L. Rogers, wife of Michael R., of East Earl, Karen M. Lemon, wife of Robert, of Denver, PA, Michelle McMonagle, wife of Donald, Jr., of Birdsboro, and Kathleen Malloy, wife of Walter C. Jr., of Elverson; 7 grandchildren: Roman and Amanda McMonagle, Kenneth, David, and Stephanie Malloy, Michaeline Rogers, and Daniel Lemon; two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. He loved his dog, Missy Mae.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Marvin K. Knauer, Jr., husband of Kathryn (Hostetter), and his in-laws, Heber D. and Esther (Kulp) McGowan.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 9:30 AM at St. Paul’s U.M. Church, 1136 Geigertown Rd., Birdsboro PA 19508 with Rev. Thomas Daniel and Rev. C Michael Roney officiating. Interment will be in the Elverson U.M. Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Friday, January 13 from 6-8 PM and Saturday, January 14 from 8:30-9:30 AM at the church. Masonic Services will be held on Friday at 7:45 PM at the church by Howell Lodge #405. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Karl’s memory to St. Paul’s U.M.
