Obituary for Dorothy M. Plank (Miller)

Dorothy M. Plank died peacefully on Friday, December 23, 2016 at age 93. A lifelong resident of Lionville and Downingtown, Pennsylvania, Dorothy passed at the Zerbe Nursing Home in Narvon.
She is preceded by her husband, Glenn R. Plank, and survived by son Peter R. Plank and wife Shelly Plank, of New Holland, PA, and daughter Hollie P. Sturges and son-in-law Lance H. Sturges of Gastonia, NC. Dorothy has three grandsons, Clay Sturges of Greensboro, NC, Ryan Sturges and wife Erin Sturges, also of Greensboro, and Douglas Sturges or Charlotte, NC. Dorothy was great grandmother to Johannah and Jacob Sturges, children of Ryan and Erin. Dorothy also leaves behind her dear friend Ethel Otter.
Dorothy worked as an insurance agent for National Liberty Insurance Company in Malvern, Pennsylvania, and was a longtime volunteer at The Brandywine River Museum where she delighted in creating, teaching friends and family to make “Critters” for Christmas. Dorothy was a lifelong member of St. James Episcopal Church in Downingtown, where she held the post of Treasurer of the Alter Guild. An avid reader and Jeopardy game show enthusiast, Dorothy was a student of history and literature, and loved people, gardening and animals.
Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation at 10 am with a service at 11am, at St. James Episcopal Church, 409 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown, PA on Thursday, December 29th.
