Madonna Lynn (Rybolt) Talbert, M.D., 63, of Ephrata, PA, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, 15 July 2016 at her home in Ephrata after a six year battle with breast cancer.
Born Friday, 13 March 1953 in Anderson, IN she was the daughter of the late Hansel Wayne and Frances Bernice (WRIGHT) Rybolt of Anderson. She was married 01 September 1972 in Anderson to Charles Edwin “Charley” Talbert, who survives her.
Madonna graduated from Anderson High School in 1971, Ball State University in Muncie, IN with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1975 and a M.S. in Chemistry in 1976, and the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 1980. She completed her residency and internship at Ohio State University in 1984, after which she moved to Lancaster, PA and joined Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates of Lancaster until 2000. From 2000-2007 she worked at Obstetrics and Gynecology of Lancaster and then from 2007 until present she has been with Ephrata Community Hospital OB-GYN, now Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital. She served on the staff at the former St. Joseph Medical Center, now Lancaster Regional Medical Center from 1984 to 2010. Later she served as Vice Chair of Lancaster General OB-GYN department from 2000-2006. She served as the chair of the Performance Enhancement Committee and as a Fellow with the American College of OB-GYN as well as serving on several boards and committees at her current employment. She was also a certified Menopause Clinician with the North American Menopause Society from 2000-present.
Her faith directed her life and she was a member of the Lancaster Church of the Nazarene where she served as pianist for many years, youth leader, and Sunday school teacher. She also enjoyed family history and was a member of the National Genealogical Society. She loved gardening, flowers, music, and especially enjoyed her cats, Grace and Hope.
Besides her husband she is survived by a daughter, Meredith Leanne, married to Andrew Troy Heil of Manheim, PA; a son, Peter Charles, married to Devin Michelle (Justice) Talbert of Raleigh, NC; a sister, Arlena Sue Wood of Anderson, IN; and a brother, Stephen Wayne, married to Mary Kay (Davis) Rybolt of Anderson, IN. Also surviving are two nephews, (sons of Arlena), Kendall Lee, married to Karen Sue (Gunn) Wood, of Indianapolis, IN, and Kevin Wayne, married to Bonnie Lynn (Blanchard) Wood, of Pflugerville, TX; and 2 nieces, Kendra Sue Wood of Indianapolis, IN (daughter of Arlena), and Cynthia Ann, married to Nyaradzai M. Kadenge of Mitchellville, IA (daughter of Stephen). Additional survivors include three great nieces, Acacia Lynn, married to Daniel James Bixby of Aurora, CO (daughter of Kendall); Amanda Marie, married to Tyler Floyd of 29 Palms, CA (daughter of Kendall); and Summer Leigh Wood of Albuquerque, NM (daughter of Kevin); and two great-great nieces, Aria Teagan Bixby, and Aleighya Selena Floyd, and one great-great nephew, Brennen Caleb Floyd. A special recognition also to Alice Ruby Brubaker of Lancaster, PA, Madonna’s “adopted” Pennsylvania mother since 1984.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10 am at High Fine Arts Center of Lancaster Mennonite School, 2176 Lincoln Hwy. East, Lancaster, PA. Interment will be in Witness Park, Lititz. Friends may call at the Lancaster Church of the Nazarene, 2150 New Holland Pike, Lancaster, on Friday 2-4 and 6-8 pm and Saturday 9-10 am at Lancaster Mennonite School.
