I. Harold  Long
I. Harold Long, 88, of East Earl, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. His wife, Mabel (Hurst) Long, survives. His first wife, Laura Mae (Weaver) Long preceded him in death in 1959.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Ivan G. and Stella (Weigle) Long.

Harold was employed for more than 40 years at the former New Holland Machine Co., now CNH.

He was a member of Lichty Mennonite Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by eight children: Patricia (George) Zimmerman, Denver; Julie (David) Risser, Augusta, WI; Lamar (Janice) Long, New Holland; Jerry (Rachel) Long, Mohnton; Lavern (Sharon) Long, Oden, AK; Clair (Barb) Long, New Holland; Nevin (Joyce) Long, East Earl; Lucinda (James) Weaver, Ghana, Africa; a son-in-law Harvey Newswanger, East Earl; 41 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; five siblings: Marian Brown, William Long, Lorraine Maulden, Kenneth Long ,and Donald Long.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Norleen Newswanger, a granddaughter Marlene Newswanger, brother Robert Paul Long and a sister Dorothy Long.

His funeral will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Lichty Mennonite Church, 1690 Union Grove Rd., East Earl. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. at the Martindale Mennonite Reception Center, 352 Martindale Rd., Ephrata and at the church on Monday from 9 – 10 a.m. Kindly omit flowers. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge of arrangements.
