Stephen S. Esh, 88, of Fairmount Homes, Ephrata, formerly of Churchtown, entered the presence of the Lord on Saturday, March 5, 2016, following a lengthy illness. He was married to Esther (Zook) Esh for 63 years.

Born in Churchtown, Steve was the son of the late Daniel and Rachel Esh. He worked for many years as a shop foreman at C.U. Stoltzfus Mfg., Inc., retiring in 1992. Steve was on the pastoral team at Red Run Mennonite Church for eleven years prior to his retirement. At the time of his death he was a member of Grace and Truth Fellowship of Morgantown. A wonderful husband and family man, Steve loved to spend time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Steve and Esther served as volunteers at the Millersville International House for two years after retirement. They also enjoyed many winters in Florida in their retirement years.

In addition to his wife, Steve will be dearly missed by his children, Richard (Betty) Esh, Mervin (Loretta) Esh, Linda (Ivan) Stoltzfus, Rose (Dave) Myers, Judy (Marlin) Yutzy, and son-in-law John (Karen) Hostetler. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wilma Hostetler. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Barbara (Ammon) Stoltzfus and Lena (Daniel) Esh, and a brother John (Anna) Esh. In addition to his daughter, Steve was preceded in death by two brothers, Jonas (Lydia) Esh and David (Elsie) Esh, two sisters, Sadie (John) Zook and Rebecca (David) Smoker, and a great-grandson, Drew Troyer.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation with the family at Conestoga Mennonite Church, 2779 Main St., Morgantown, PA, on Thursday afternoon, March 10, from 2:00 to 4:00, and in the evening from 6:00 to 8:00. The funeral will be at the church on Friday, March 11, at 11:00, with viewing from 10:00 to 11:00. Pastor Lance Eisele will be officiating. Interment will take place following the funeral in the adjoining cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Fairmount Homes and Hospice and Community Care for their tender loving care of Dad during his illness. The Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill is in charge arrangement. Online condolences may be posted at www.groffeckenroth.com.
