Lenore A.  O'Neill
Lenore A. O’Neill, Akron, formerly of Denver, PA, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at Wellspan Ephrata Community Hospital following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her first husband Constantine Murphy in 1967 and her second husband Thomas E. O’Neill in 1999.
Born in Mahanoy Plain, Schuylkill Co., she was the daughter of the late Michael and Hilda (Meade) Hughes. A member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help, Ephrata and also an Eucharistic minister at Saint Benedict 's Church in Mohnton. She was a 1949 graduate of West Catholic H.S., Phila.
Lenore retired in 1996 after 20 years as a waitress and had formerly been a beautician.
She enjoyed time with her grandchildren, cleaning and shopping.
Surviving are her children, Claire, married to Wolfe Miller, and Constance, married to Richard Dunn, both of Morgantown, PA, Kathleen Murphy, Reamstown, Tricia, married to George Monaghan, Birdsboro, Michael O’Neill, and Thomas, married to Carla (Castagna) O’Neill, both of East Earl, and Shawn, married to Kelly (Radford) O’Neill, Newmanstown; 17 grandchildren, as well as her sister Ann Kilburn, The Villages, FL, and a brother, the Rev. Father Michael Hughes, Bokeelia, FL., and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death are a granddaughter Lauren Hemler, and her sisters, Teresa Winslow, Kathleen Swoyer and Claire Roletter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 12, at 11 a.m. at Our Mother of Perpetual Help, 320 Church Ave., Ephrata, with the Rev. Father Michael Hughes as celebrant. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Family will receive friends at the Church on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. If desired, memorials may be made to The Augustinian Fund, P.O.
